Trustworthy security solutions for local school for girls

	Client: Plymouth High School for Girls
	Project: Main entrance automatic gate, Access control system and rear security gate
	Completed: 20/02/2015

	Site wanted to be able to control traffic access to the site and pedestrian access while not creating a dangerous situation. We proposed a fully automated single swing 4m gate for the vehicles with a manual single 900mm gate with an external closer unit for the pedestrians, fully integrated to the existing networked access control and main school fire alarm system.

Safe and secure solutions

The whole area is clearly marked with road painted "yellow" hashed danger areas in the main vehicle gates exclusion zone. The rear crushing zone of the vehicle gate is protected by means of safety beams along with the main front & rear swing area of the gate, having dual height safety beams. Full finger entrapment flexible EPDM rubber guards have been installed to the automated gate too.

The vehicle gate is secured by 2 x 600kg magnetic locks, which has remote control operation by school staff and also has a button located in the receptionist office for granting access when the gate is not held open by the networked access control timers.

Carefully planned with safety in mind

Railings separated the pedestrians from the vehicle area and guide them towards the pedestrian gate.

The pedestrian gate is fully integrated with the networked access control system having a 600kg magnetic lock controlled via access readers mounted on each railing.

The rear security gate is a 1200mm manual gate with external grade closer unit, secured by a 600kg magnetic lock, with access control readers "in/out" on the networked Paxton access control system allowing caretakers and staff access. The gate is also fully integrated to the main school fire alarm.
