Quality automatic gate system for local Plymouth school

	AWL have upgraded the security systems at Enessettle Community School in Plymouth. This comprises of three automatic entrance and exit gates, two intercom systems, CCTV system modification and electronic access control.

Precise design for quality security

The main entrance and exit is now controlled by a pair of automated automatic gates that can be opened via a member of the schools staff and by a valid proximity card. The intercom systems are connected to the existing intercom and allow a visitor to the school to call reception either in a car, or on foot.

The receptionist can open either the vehicle gate or the pedestrian gate on a push of a button. The gates are low voltage and have multiple safety features to ensure safe operation and comply with the machine directive 98/37/EEC and the applicable parts of Standards EN13241-1, EN12453 & EN12445. The gates have been force tested in line with the recommendations by the HSC.

Long-Term Solutions

A new island was formed to calm the flow of traffic and to enable the intercom system and proximity cards to be used without getting out of a vehicle.

The automatic gates have been interfaced with the fire alarm system so in the event of a fire alarm the gates automatically open to allow access to the site.

The long term mission of this upgrade is to provide a safe means of entrance and exit to the schools grounds for the pupils and staff. It is also to provide means of gaining entrance to the school via either a proximity card or as a visitor using the intercom system.

The complete project was managed and run by AWL.
